Professional activities

  • Gretta has been the defence council in several of the most prominent criminal procedures in Estonia, having defended both politicians and entrepreneurs regarding accusations of corruption and economic crimes in all stages of the criminal proceedings, including the European Court of Human Rights. Moreover, Gretta has represented the interests of victims in criminal matters both during the commencement of the criminal proceedings and in court.
  • In addition to criminal law, Gretta advises clients in all civil cases, focusing mostly on claims of unlawful damage. For example, Gretta was one of the attorneys representing the Estonian politician Eerik-Niiles Kross in his claim against Äripäev filed on the basis of disclosing incorrect information. In this landmark case, Kross was awarded a sum of 10 000 euros in non-material damages.
  • Gretta has graduated from University of Tartu Faculty of Law and at the same time she studied in Uppsala University in Sweden in the fields of European Union Law. Thus, Gretta navigates well in European Union legislation and judgements of the European Court of Justice.
